Join the Art & Craft Department, Indigenous Students Association, OIE, and Center for Working Lands in welcoming Eastern Band of Cherokee (EBCI) Artists Mary Thompson and her grandson, Dewi Thompson

Meet us at the Garden Cabin on Friday (3/27) from 9AM-NOON for a material specific workshop looking at the processing and knowledge of traditonal Cherokee artisan resources such as Rivercane and White Oak. Join Mary and Dewi to learn about the practice and knowledge of weaving. Mary thinks of those before her who have made their own woven creations and takes into consideration how they made their creative choices. "I wonder how they knew which species was best for waeving materials of for dyeing, I don't question that the Creator showed them." says Thompson.
