*This is a Homecoming Weekend event!*
Join us for an open-to-the-public, family-friendly event on the College’s Working Lands (Farm, Garden, and Forest) featuring interactive activities, tours, and open houses from our land and craft crews! The Garden Crew will have the fresh cider press pumping and will offer an interactive marigold-dye activity. We will have craft demonstrations from the Blacksmithing, Fiber Arts, and Fine Woodworking Crews. The Free Store will be open, and there will be WWC-raised meat and limited other WWC items available for sale. Doughnuts will also be available for purchase. Tours will take place on the following schedule:
10:15 am*: Garden tour, Forest tour or Farm tour
10:45 am: CORE Composting Demonstration
11:00 am: Lecture from Dr. Jeffrey Keith - "Seven Origin Stories in a Sentence"
Jeff Keith will discuss some of the complexities hidden within a conventional one-sentence "origin story" for Warren Wilson College. This will be a celebration of memory and an invitation to engage with the unpredictable past.
11:35 am*: Garden Tour, Forest tour or Farm tour
*All tours depart from the Garden, located at 125 South Lane. Tours will kick off with a brief overview about the Center for Working Lands from Dr. Dave Ellum, Dean of Land.
