Dear Educators,
Welcome Back! As of now we have two programs scheduled for our OIE Community Conversations - with the theme of each being D(iverse Perspectives), E(lection Readiness), & I(nclusion over Exclusion). The aim is to allow our community an opportunity for civic engagement - especially as it pertains to navigating diverse political views and platforms for upcoming elections.
On Tuesday September 10th representatives from the Green PartY are visiting and on Tuesday October 1st reps from the Democratic National Committee will attend. Both events are from 6pm-8pm in Canon Lounge. We have also been in talks with scheduling the RNC and the People's Party for visits & will keep you posted on any developments.
Colleagues, we would love for you to spread the word to other colleagues, students in/on your classes/crews - to attend and ask questions of the parties & their platforms. It's a great opportunity for folks to familiarize themselves with the state & local electoral process - and also a way to increase awareness of linkages between activism & policy.
Our moderator for the event will be Dr. Amy Knisley, Associate Academic Dean, and Professor of Environmental Policy.
This is a collaborative effort between the Office of the Provost and The Office of Inclusive Excellence. All are welcomed to attend.
Doors open at 5:30pm. the event is free of charge.
